Freedman Step-by-Step Custom Designs:

1. Inspiration

People often rush past this step, but the more time and attention you give it will be well worth it in the end...even if you're someone who 'has no clue about these things' (Yes, we know who you are!). Start by gathering photos of rings you love, specific features you'd like to consider, and anything that catches your eye. As for the rings you don't like? Make a note of those, too. Knowing what you don't want is especially helpful when knowing what you do want is somewhat unclear.

2. Consultation

The first step to designing your own ring? A complimentary consultation with our expert jewelers. No pressure, no commitments—just brainstorming, sketching, and exploring ideas and rings up close. Get inspired, learn about diamonds, discuss pricing, all in a relaxed environment. If you're ready to proceed, we'll work with you until we've captured your design vision perfectly.

3. Diamond

Following your consultation, we'll help you choose the perfect center stone for your ring, ensuring it aligns with your budget and preferences. With transparent pricing and options, we'll guide you through selecting the ideal diamond. If you'd like to explore loose diamonds during your initial consultation, just let us know!

4. CAD

Once we finalize the design plan, we'll create a Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) and email it to you. This detailed CAD provides realistic snapshots of your ring from every angle, with exact dimensions. You'll have the opportunity to review and make any desired adjustments. We offer a free redrafting of the CAD if needed to ensure perfection. At this stage, a labor fee is charged, which is later deducted from the total cost of the ring.

5. Wax

Once the CAD is approved, we'll create a wax mold of your ring using a 3D printer and top-notch software. In just 2-3 days, you can see your unique design come to life. While not every client opts for a mold, it can clear up any lingering uncertainties in the final stages of the custom design process. If you're unsure about your design, ask for a wax mold. We'll also assist in finalizing decisions about the center diamond and any other stones you plan to include.

6. Ring

That's all there is to it. Within 2-3 weeks, your ring is complete, and you are ready to propose with a one-of-a-kind piece, made with love.

FAQ’s:

No. Depending on your needs and expectations, we can forgo elements of the custom ring process. For example, if you find an existing setting you love and just want to make a few simple changes, we can forgo the CAD and wax mold, and customize your setting very easily. Or if you feel your design is simple enough and/or you trust the outcome based on the first few phases of design, we can also move ahead without the CAD and wax. Whatever works best for you!

For example, if we have a clear sense of what you’re looking for, we can forgo a CAD drawing or wax mold in order to save time. Contrary to popular assumptions, the difference in price between a custom designed ring and an already existing setting is often quite minimal. In fact, sometimes, a custom ring is actually less expensive than an existing setting. Because we do all our own custom work here on the premises, we eliminate the need for a ‘middleman’ or third party to help in the process, and subsequently, we pass all of those savings onto our clients. Yes. We often work with clients who are out of state and sometimes even internationally. We have safe and secure means of shipping back and forth in order that we can not only send you your custom pieces, but also any wax molds or loose stones along the way.

No. Every client is different, and sometimes there isn’t a need for the CAD drawing and/or wax mold. We can make those decisions together along the way as we determine your vision.

Yes. We’re happy to work with any stones you already have and will work to make sure any new stones complement and/or match the existing ones perfectly.
